Coin Fundamentals
Before entering any trade, understanding what you’re buying is essential. While memecoins may seem like pure chaos, strong fundamentals still matter, especially when deciding which ones are worth your time and risk.
The Idea
The core idea behind a coin is often what drives attention, community, and price action. Most memecoins fall into a few categories:
Original Ideas
Fully unique concepts, with new artwork, branding, and narratives. These are rare, and often where the biggest upside lives.
Beta Plays
Copies or spin-offs of a coin that went viral. Often share a theme or ticker, slightly altered to ride the momentum of the original.
Utility Coins
Linked to platforms or products. The coin might be used for payment, launchpads, or access to features.
Meme-Driven
Created around currently trending memes. These thrive while the meme is hot, but can fade fast when attention moves on.
There’s no "best" category, but knowing which type you’re trading helps you better understand its potential (and limitations).
Holders & Dev
Who’s holding the coin, and who made it, matters.
Check if top wallets have strong track records
Review the history of early holders
See if the dev has launched successful coins before
If the top wallets have a habit of dumping, or if the dev has a history of rugpulls — that’s your warning sign. On the flip side, experienced devs or smart holders can signal opportunity.
Coin Leaders
Many coins are carried by their leaders.
Look for:
Who’s running the Telegram
Who’s consistently posting on X
Who the community looks to for updates
You don’t need a perfect leader, you just need one who isn’t known for farming and dumping.
If the same person has led multiple coins to 7–8 figure market caps, it’s worth paying attention. But always remember: past results ≠ future success.
KOL Influence
Key opinion leaders (KOLs) can make or break a memecoin’s run.
Shady KOLs often post just before selling.
Reputable KOLs bring trust, followers, and exposure.
If you spot a known "farmer" tweeting the coin, either get in and out fast or stay away entirely. But if respected names are pushing the coin, that can be a green flag, especially if the momentum is organic and not paid promo.
